A Place Apart to Nurture, Renew, & Inspire
Established in 1960, Camp John Knox has provided a safe and exciting summer camp for over 50 years. We strive to create a safe, fun environment for campers of all ages to grow in faith, develop a positive self-image, and create relationships that last forever. We believe that relationships are an integral part of the ministry of Camp John Knox. With this in mind, we structure our camp with a focus on the group and individual. Campers will be a part of a family group that consists of two counselors with a small group of campers. It is within this small group campers spend most of their time. Campers mix with other family groups during daily meals, free time, all group activities, and worship. We feel that this community that forms is an important aspect of the camp experience and keeps campers coming back summer after summer.
John Knox Center is a mission of the Presbytery of East Tennessee and is accredited by the American Camp Association. An ACA Accredited camp must meet up to 300 standards for health, safety, and program quality.

Summer Camp Staff
We hire only the highest quality Christian staff to work with our campers at Camp John Knox. All staff are interviewed, reference checked, and background checked, followed by an intensive staff training and orientation each summer. We have an enthusiastic, fun-loving, caring, empowered, loving staff that are taught to care for, build up, teach, and support your camper.

The Camp Experience
We believe that relationships are an integral part of the ministry of Camp John Knox. The small-group approach to camping fosters relationship growth and community building. One boys cabin with their male counselor, partners with a girls cabin and their female counselor to make up a “family group”. It is within this small group campers spend most of their time. The community that forms is an important aspect of the camp experience. Campers mingle with other family groups at all group activities most evenings, meals, and worship. Because of our individualized experience, campers can attend multiple sessions and have a unique experience each time!

Summer Camp Activities
Camp John Knox has a multitude of fun & exciting activities to offer campers during their stay. With 4 miles of shoreline, waterfront is a huge part of a camper’s day; campers enjoy getting out on the lake in a sailboat, canoe or kayak or taking a turn in the ski boat with our seasoned instructors. Swimming in our scenic waterfront area is complimented wonderfully with water games and our giant slip ‘n slide.

There is fun to be had on dry land too! Our high ropes challenge course is a highlight of our campers’ weeks: going down the zip line, swinging through the trees on the flying squirrel, or challenging yourself on one of our traversing elements is sure to add excitement to your experience. CJK also offers many traditional camp activities such as archery, arts & crafts, frisbee golf, nature center, and more! Plus an exhilarating all camp activity each evening.
